Inverness Club, a Donald Ross designed golf course which opened in 1903, is hosting its seventh USGA Championship and second U.S. Senior Open. Previously the Club hosted four U.S. Opens (1920, 1931, 1957 and 1979), the 2003 U.S. Senior Open and the 1973 U.S. Amateur. Inverness has also hosted the 1986 and 1993 PGA Championships.

Fans will be able to see in person in 2011 some of the great names in golf – champions whose careers and accomplishments we all have followed with great interest through the years: Watson, Couples, Azinger, Norman, Perry, Crenshaw, Langer, Lietzke, Zoeller, O’Meara, Cook, Haas, Mize, Stadler, Kite, Lehman, Tway, Funk, Roberts, Pavin, Jacobsen, Calcavecchia . . . are all eligible to compete and attempt to capture yet another significant piece of golf history here at Inverness Club.

Recent U.S. Senior Open Championships were played at The Broadmoor Golf Club in Colorado Springs, Colorado in 2008 and Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, Indiana in 2009. The 2010 U.S. Senior Open will be hosted by Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Washington.

During Championship Week July 25-31, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are practice round days for the players with the four rounds of competition (72 holes stroke play) beginning on Thursday and concluding on Sunday. A cut to the low 60 players and ties plus anyone within 10 shots of the leader is made after Friday’s second round.

Please refer back to this website as more information about the Championship is made available.
